The Historic Gundagai Bakery is believed to be the oldest working bakery in Australia. In 1864 German immigrant and baker William Bibo built and opened the bakery. A successful businessman and citizen who later became Mayor of the town. In 1976 enthusiastic Gundagai residents rallied following the threatened closure of the bakery. Fifty locals became shareholders in a new company which purchased the business and premises. For the past 23 years John Catling has been Lessee and supplying the Riverina with Little John's pies and a variety of cakes, slices, sandwiches and coffee. Its a great friendly place to have a bite to eat for all the family! Present baker John Catling is renowned for his pies and sausage rolls. The famous Little John's Pies, have won awards.
